Has anyone tried SAM-e (S-adenosylmethionine) for depression?

By depression, I mean the big bad burly variety. I have been on and off Prozac for a decade with moderate to dismal results. It usually "poops out" as they say and my brief encounters with others have been next to terrifying. I will also add that I have anxiety and OCD. Most grateful for any response/info.

  1. Sam-E really does not work other than perhaps a placebo effect.  You have serious disorders and need to work with your doctor to find a medicine that works for you.  If you have tolerated Prozac, others should be okay and there are many newer ones that are very good.  It's not unusual to have to try several medications to find one that works for you long term.  Also, has your doctor ever suggested an anti-anxiety medication (Xanax, Klonopin, etc.)?  Some doctors do not like to use them, but with a serious case that is non-responding as yours, they might consider it.  You also should be in some type of therapy in my opinion.

I have been through much of the same things as you.
