Question:

Has anyone tried a Port Lewis Impression Pad before?

I am very interested in seeing how different saddles respond to this pad! Does anyone have any idea why it is so expensive? It seems pretty ridiculous to me. I am however, very curious about how different saddles would respond to it. I have both a treed and treeless saddle, and want to know more about pressure points! Does anyone know of a way to rent out one of these pads, or get them cheeper? I would love your opinions!

  1. I have used one. Basically it's like play-doh inside the pad, so your saddle presses on the play-doh and makes impressions where the pressure points are occuring. Ideally, if your saddle fits, the pad should stay fairly uniformly thick. It's pretty interesting to see, but I wouldn't buy one. Our equine sports massage therapist had one that she let us use, so maybe you could check with one of them? They don't really seem to hold up well enough to be worth the money. We had a lot of trouble with the glue that held the velcro pieces on melting and the velcro sliding - kind of a pain in the butt. So bottom line, borrow one from someone, but don't waste your money one it. You can probably look at your saddle and do a decent job of telling how well it fits your horse.

  2. how much are they?
