  1. i just bought a used eiki dlp projector off ebay for 127.00, it msrp's for 995.00 so i got a great buy, and it only had 30 out of 2,000 hours used on the bulb, if you ask me the home theater ones are just over priced slandered  ones. one plus about the home theaters is that some have a hdmi or a componet hook up, mine only has s video, composite video and vga, i got a vga to componet adapter on ebay for 6.00 and it all works great.

  2. I have a projector and it's awesome. The picture rivals that of LCDs and Plasmas and is much bigger (92"). My friends are jealous. You do have to make sure it's in a light controlled room however and you'll need a good sound system to complete the package.

Sony's SXRDs are amazing but expensive (ie: VPL-VW40). Their lower end line are still pretty good like the VPL-AW15.

  3. Instead of going with a Sony, go with a DLP front projector since it gives you the biggest picture measured diagonally. Check out a refurbished Infocus SP4805 4X projector at amazon.com which sells for around $600. Here's the URL:

It comes with a built-in speaker. Read the 15 Customer Reviews.

And here's an actual 96" diagonal movie image [A Good woman] from a distance of 13.5 feet.

    Good luck!
