Has anyone tried life coaching?

I`ve won a 30 day email programme, book and 2 x 30 mins telephone sessions.

I only entered the competition for the runners up prizes, but I`ve won this instead.

If you have done it, did it change your life? Or is it a waste of time?

Btw - I wasn`t sure which category to put this in.

  1. I have tried it with a few different coaches and had some good experiences and some not so great experiences.  For me it was useful.  But I think much depends on the individual and the coach.  Some people don't like to discuss details of their life with a "stranger" over the phone.  Others have no problem with that and indeed find it easier than talking about goals or problems with people they know.  Much like any profession, the quality of life coaches varies widely, and the important part is to find someone you are comfortable with.  Some are great, some are a waste of time.  Many offer a free first session; use it to find out if the person "feels right".   I wouldn't expect it to radically change your life.  I might expect it to help with aspects of your life.  The key, as with many things, is how hard you are willing to work.  A coach can only guide you; he or she can't do it for you.  I like Stacy at Footstepsforward; but that's just me.  I'd say to give your coach a try, but have a goal in mind that you can accomplish in a month or else I wouldn't be surprised if you did get a sales pitch.

  2. Life coaching will help you as long as you have an open mind, and want to change.

It is only as good though as the person coaching you.

  3. I has a good friend who hired a life coach to improve his life and now he's in the mental hospital.

I don't find them helpful at all.

  4. I have never tried life coaching but I have a friend who is a life coach - she isn't that busy!  Personally, my friends, colleagues and family are my life coaches and of course, myself.  I suppose it could be beneficial if you wanted an "fresh pair of ears" to share your goals with.

  5. Be wary, the two 30 min sessions will be used to try to pressure you into signing up, at great expense, for many more sessions. Do not give them your credit card details under any circumstances.

  6. I've started a life coaching course and learnt a h**l of a lot.

It is a very rewarding profession to go into and you will find that you naturally improve you own life if you decide to follow it through.

I have read loads and loads of books during the training that totally inspire you.

This competition may be a bit suspect though so check it out before agreeing to anything.

On the down side, It can get costly to do the training, If you can afford it, i would recommend doing it.

  7. I have been going to such a coaching thingy... and its quite rewarding - I went about 10 times already... My coach is dedicated particularly to ADHD like me...  Good luck!  -A :)
