Has anyone tried "MagicJack" the phone adapter that uses your landline and broadband?

  1. It does not use your landline but does use your high speed internet connection (cable, dsl, wireless...).

    Works great about 95% of the times as there are still a few wrinkles to be ironed out but all in all not a bad product, especially for the price ($39.95 + shipping which includes first year of local calling and unlimitted callling in US and Canada).

    Some quirks:

    1. sometimes have to dial twice before getting connected.

    2. doesn't work that great with the headset especially if you are using the computer at the same time.

    3. computer has to be on (I normally only plug it in when I want to make a call, loads up in under a minute).

    4. call display doesn't always display

    5. some firewalls cause problems but windows firewall works fine.

    6. Voicemail is not very reliable.

    Great as a second phone line!

    Trust this helps. I have had it for three months and am happy with it.
