  1. try sidestep.com

  2. Yes, you can book a flight in the UK for someone departing in another country. Many websites will do this. You can also buy it directly from the airline or by calling a travel agent.

If you use the Internet, I strongly suggest using a British website and not an American website. Some websites won't accept foreign credit cards. If you have any problems and need assistance from customer service, you may have to make a transatlantic phone call. That can get very expensive, especially if you get placed on hold.

  3. My boyfriend buys me tickets from the US to the UK frequently (what a guy!) and he has never had trouble purchasing from an American site.  We have used cheaptickets.com and united.com recently. Most major sites will take international cards and billing addresses, but be aware that your credit card will often charge a small fee for the currency conversion.
