  1. If you need a financial plan it is best to work with a Financial Advisor.  I have never worked with Edward Jones, but I work for Smith Barney.  If you have any investment questions or would like suggestions shoot me an email at myn22@yahoo.com.

  2. Edward Jones is set up a little different than some other brokers/advisers. Each office is independantly owned I believe. So it depends on the individual advisor in the office.

Be aware that in most cases you are picking your advisor less than picking a company.

They are good if you have a good advisor because you are dealing more directly with the person advising you rather than getting the corporate line a major brokerage is giving to thousands of customers without tailoring well to you.

My father had two different ones at Ed Jones that did very well by him and did advise him to invest as he wanted and was appropriate.

But the only way to know if your local guy is for you is to go talk to him, discuss your investments and goals, and see what you think. Then try him.

You can move your accounts in total to another brokerage without a whole lot of trouble and usually no taxes (meaning you don;t have to sell your investments to move them)  if you desire to change later.

    Good Luck
