They do not show you the hotel name until after you have booked, and there are no cancellations.

  1. I've not used it (or priceline) and I doubt I ever will (regardless of the "savings").

When I travel, it's important that I know exactly where I'm staying.  I usually need somewhere that's in a convenient location, and offers the amenities I need.

When booking with hotwire (priceline, etc.) -- you have no way of knowing that you'll get the "perfect" hotel -- the only way to do that is to research, find where you want to stay, then find the best price.

  2. Yes, all the time.  If you don't mind not knowing which hotel you'll be staying at, but they'll let you know the area it's in.  So far, it's been great.  I've booked hotel for SanFrancisco and have gotten Holiday Inn, Marriott and all at a very discounted rate.  Just beware they will not give refund if you don't make it!!
