  1. There are many variations of linux and in reality require a steep learning curve as things do not download and install the same as windows.

You have to have patience and work at it

There a Linux versions that load from a cd and do not interfere with windows so you can play about with them and still have windows

There is a Linux version that is only 50MB  called d**n Small Linux

  2. its fun.

  3. I used Linux for fun and it gives me the best job in the world simply for knowing a bit about it!

It just works. At least on my system. Maybe you have to tweak a little here and there but you'll grow into IT savvy each day with it. Take my word for it.

I play Quake Wars with it.

    Try Ubuntu.

  4. My first experience with Linux was RedHat. Ugly, slow, and a general pain in the butt to get even the most basic of things working (Mp3 playback, DVD playback, printer drivers, WiFi etc.) That's also when I developed a CommandLinePhobia.

From then on I switched to Windows only systems, but I also tried OpenSuse 10.3 at the same time. It was sort of meh, but much more usuable that it had been back in 2000. Perhaps in the near future when a) Linux gets better hardware support and b) when it can play games

I might switch to 100% Linux.
