  1. it does work -- but  they are going to do no more than you can do on your own. Dispute the bad accounts to get them deleted.

  3. Having been in the mortgage business for many years now I can tell you from my experience that there are a few companies that are great and most are scams. First thing you MUST do is find one that LICENSED AND BONDED from the Department of Consumers Affairs. Then you must ask for samples of work. I have a guy I have used for years and every client I have sent to them came back with amazing results. They are an attorneys office which is the best way to go from my experience because any company that uses dispute letters can do EXACTLY the same thing as you can. Also no one will ever know that you used one.

Credit Counseling is Debt Consolidation not credit repair but credit Repair can get rid of that also.

Most of the responses on here are thinking Debt Consolidation not Credit Repair. Credit Repair helps remove negative items from your credit report not consolidate your debt.

  4. I'm not certain, but I think using a credit repair service (or at least certain ones) affects your credit.  I have recently gotten a copy of my credit report and score, and where they list at the bottom if you filed any bankruptcies, had foreclosures, been in collections etc., it also had a section for "credit counseling used" or something to that effect.  Make sure you research it further before you make a decision.

  5. www.FICSMYCREDIT.com

  6. Go to your local Consumer Credit Counseling center - dial 211 in your area and ask them to give you the location, address and phone number.  Credit repair does work, but you want to use it only if it's free.  No sense in being in debt and paying to get out of debt.

  7. they are a scam. yoiu put x amount of money down before they do anything. then they wait until you card charges off as a bad debt and then they try try to settle with the bank for 20 cents on the dollar thus earning themselves a commission.  you can save lots of money and settle the debt yourself.
