Has anyone used a torch along a chain link fence instead of a weed whacker?

I saw someone using one on TV the other day and was thinking about trying it on the rocks and landscaping in my yard. I didn't want to use roundup because I'm worried it will make a wide line of dead grass. I would just use the bottle torch from my garage instead of the weed torch I saw on TV. I am so sick of the string breaking on the weed whacker, especially around the sharp landscaping rocks. I don't think it would kill the roots but it should be the same, if not better than the weed whacker.

I've burned fence line many times without a problem.  If the weeds are dry and thick, keep in mind how you will maintain control if you have a runaway.

my brother used a torch earlier this summer to burn the weeds coming up in the sidewalk cracks and in the driveway, they haven't come back yet!
