We are going to Scotland this winter with another couple and are looking for a way to stay in a two bedroom apartment so we can save some money and spend some time together. This website seems legit but I would feel better if others had tried it and had positive experiences with it. Any help or alternate suggestions would be great.

  1. I have not tried that site but have tried these sites below and are legit and work well.

    www.rentalo.com

    www.vrbo.com

  2. I haven't used them myself and I can't find any reviews apart from the reviews from customers on their website which "strangely" are all good. They are a large company with apartments and hotel rooms all around the world which gives them a certain credence.

I have had a look at some of the apartments they have for rent in Edinburgh and their descriptions of the areas where the apartments are located use a certain amount of artistic licence and the same may apply to the description of the properties.

I see that you have asked the same question in Tripadvisor, you may be luckier with the replies there.

There are a few sites that may help you.

  3. I have heard some horror stories with these people. Untidy flats, toilets not working, no clean linen etc. These are serviced apartments & may not be what you are looking for. They are popular with Hen nights, etc. The prices they charge seem extortionate for what you get. You can get a room in a 4 star hotel for that money.

You would be better off with a Guest House.

  4. Strangely few in the business that I know seem to know much about them, certainly some of the information on there own site is 'generous with the truth', but that may be down to overeager marketing and doesn't mean their flats are bad.

The fact is though - if you are coming in the Winter then you have many, many apartments to choose from and if what you don't fancy is completely seperate rooms in a guest house, then some, like ourselves, have self-contained areas, so you could be 'sharing' with your friends but still served breakfast at a very low cost.

In winter you can drive a hard bargain - particularly if you are coming for more than a couple of days and have a huge choice - Edinburgh can't cope in August, but is way over-provided for in the low-season.

Read the reviews on the other site you have posted on, be cautious where there are many, many good reviews - as that seems er unlikely - people tend to complain rather than rush to compliment, so are the reviews genuine? But what it will allow you to do is eliminate those who have consistently bad reviews.

Search the web as direct prices are lower than 'accommodation sites', get exactly what you want, in the city centre, and at a great price!!

    Enjoy your trip!!
