  1. My best friend tried it and it didn't help her at all.

You will go into labor when the baby is ready.

  2. I tried it at 39 weeks after my membranes were stripped at 38 and 39 weeks with no luck.

Castor oil was disgusting and all it did was give me the s***s for an hour.  I didn't have my baby until 40 weeks.

  3. basically it is just a laxative and causes you to have diarreah which then also stimulates your uterus to start contracting. i would try all other self induction methods before i tried that. who wants to be in labor AND constantly on the toilet? not me!

  4. DON'T DO IT!!! It can make the baby p**p in its fluid ( ur water) and then he / she will ingest some of it. I was told this by my dr.

  5. i have heard mixed things about it. mostly people said it gave them awful diarrhea and a sore bum with no baby... But online this is what it says so i dont know what think?? If you decide to try it let me know if it works or just makes you sick...

    Castor oil

For decades, women have been using castor oil to help induce labor. In fact, many old school physicians and midwives swear by it. It can provide good results if you are already in early labor. It is believed to work by causing spasms in the intestines, which surround the uterus toward the end of pregnancy. These spasms, in turn, cause the uterus to cramp, which might result in labor.

You can take 1 to 4 ounces of castor oil mixed with 6 ounces of orange juice to cut its oiliness. You'll want to drink it quickly because of the unpleasant taste. Some practitioners suggest taking a single dose; others suggest repeated doses depending on your response. Keep in mind that castor oil usually will cause your bowels to empty within about three hours. With luck, soon after that, you will be in true labor.

  6. I haven't been pregnant but I remember when my sister was pregnant with her first child. He was 2 weeks past-due and she was getting fed up with feeling like a "beached whale" (her words lol) so we went walking around the block everyday during the second week past-due but it didn't help so she tried castrol oil which didn't do anything either except taste extremely nasty and make her sick from the taste lol.
