Has anyone used milk crates as bed risers instead of cinder blocks? ?

I want the bed raised higher than 20 inches in order to store items under it.

  1. I had milkcrates under our bed. the thing is, they BREAK. One corner of the bed destroyed it. We are going with cinder blocks. Itsa quees bed; use 12 cinder blocks; 3 stacks of 2 spaced evenly on each side of the frame; a 1x4 across each set of blocks, over the width of the bed; and the frame/spring/bed on top.
