  1. Plastic mulch give nothing back to the soil.

    I would never use it.

Try Naturescapes by Scotts  (Home Depot) we use it and love it, it does not get blown around by the wind and it is ground not big.

  2. I 've heard of rubber mulch, but not plastic.... other than the red plastic mulch used around tomato plants.... and that just looks like plastic sheeting....

rubber mulch or plastic for that matter, gives nothing back to the soil.... there are  lots of reasons that many of us older gardeners don't like the 'artificial' mulches... from no nutritional value to overheating the soil to heavy metals contaminations..... then there's cost, ugly, and smell.... but there ARE places that it's an ok thing.... I guess.....

    my advice?..... don't do it....

  3. It is a great product for playgrounds.  It has much more give than the ground or any other type of natural ground cover.  Also it is usually guaranteed for 10 or more years to keep its color and shape.  Regular mulch can't touch that.

  4. ugh why put plastic in your nice natural garden. Use natural mulches

  5. Local news story the other day was talking about a kid who got third degree burns from rubber mulch that was spread around a playground. Seriously he lost all the skin on the bottom of his feet. OUCH!  It may hold it's color forever, but is natural mulch really that expensive? I don't think so.

  6. I have the brown stuff. It looks good, but really heavy wind will blow it around. So far that is the only thing I don't like about it.
