I got a ticket for going 67 in a 45 from a cop traveling the opposite direction, and I was going no faster than 60.

  1. Ha, pay the darn ticket. You were caught speeding.

  2. Maybe you odometer is off. You were still speeding. Just pay the fine.

  3. No matter what you do, make sure that you take care of this issue...That means going to court...If you don't go - and I don't mean call in - the court can issue a summons for failure to appear...It goes on your driver record which means you cannot renew your license or re-register your vehicle and if you are stopped for any reason, you may go to jail.

    All the best.

  4. if you were going 60 you were still speeding, and a danger to other people on the road. Why were you in such a hurry? pay it and slow down. speed limits are not there just to give the cops a reason to pull you over.

  5. Know the exact speed you were driving. If the ticket says you were driving faster than you actually were, even if you were still speeding, then the ticket can be dismissed.

Take the ticket to traffic court whenever you can. How to do so should be written on the ticket and explained by the officer. Remember that you are innocent until proven guilty and, at the very least, you can often have the fine reduced in the end.

Delay the court date with continuances. File for a continuance in writing through the court clerk's office. The longer you can wait it out, the more likely the officer won't show on the court date, dismissing the case.

Know everything about the situation when you were ticketed. Anything can be used to dismiss the case, from the exact wording of the offense to proving the radar gun might not have worked to questioning how the officer could have judged your speed at how fast he was driving.
