I'm about to start the Indiana version of K12. What are your experiences with it?

  1. i was homeschooled PreK-8th and i did K12 for part of it, it was good but some of it was challenging but some of it was too easy but i live in Ohio

  2. My sister uses and she likes it.  She does other things in addition, but in our state it is the only way that your kids can do the state testing.

  3. We found the K12 curriculum to be very dry.  There were a number of areas where the information was "in one ear and out the other."  The vocabulary drills were an example of this.  The mathematics was not much different from what is taught in a classroom - many different topics with little depth.

The science program was a big disappointment to my husband, who is a scientist.  There was very little to excite our child and the experiments were poorly designed.

The literature was another big disappointment.  We found that our local librarians recommended much more appropriate (interesting, challenging, educational) material than we received from K12.  The material at our daughter's grade level contained a number of items she had read two years previously.

After a few months, we realized that we could do a better curriculum on our own, without anyone looking over our shoulder.

    All the best.

  4. We've used it for 6 years and have done the majority of the K-8 classes.  It's wonderful!!!

I recommend you join one of the many K12 Yahoo Groups to find out more information.  Here's the oldest, and best, one:

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/K12Users/

    There's a K12 IN group also:

    And a Hoosier Academy one:
