Has anyone vacationed in ixtapa?

Was your experience good there? Why or why not...

It depends on what type of vacation you'd like. Ixtapa is beautiful and you can have a nice resort experience there. If that's what you're looking for, you'll be happy.

But it's not my style. I prefer to be in a genuine town, not a resort. So when I'm in that area, I prefer finding a local, smaller hotel in Zihuatenejo, just south of Ixtapa.

Ixtapa used to be a coconut grove. It was developed by the government's tourism department as a destination site. It's very pretty, but it's an artificial creation. If that's OK with you - and it's fine for a lot of people - then you'll enjoy great service, a beautiful beach, good dining options. There are even a few night spots for dancing.

But if you're looking to experience Mexican culture, then I'd suggest you find another town.

this is actually by favorite beach spot in mexico...theres other places that are a lot prettier but i have a great time in ixtapa.

i usually stay at the Hotel Fontan...its not as pretty as other ones but i really love the service and their setup.

they have good clubs as well!

Ixtapa is a beautiful place. I recently did an all enclusive at the Barcelo Ixtapa Beach Hotel. It was great. I think it was a little pricey, but to compare it to other places in Mexico I have been to I would gove it 4 and 1/2 stars. I have been to Acapulco, Veracruz and Puerta Vallerta. Ixtapa was for sure the best out of all of them.

yes i have vacationed ther and took my entire family it was great because ther are many things to do in ixtapa and zijantaniho. we also w3ent deep sea fishing ,took boat tours, and did a lot of shopping with no trouble, im sorry i cant remember the name of the hotel but it was great with a pool and beach access, we found a guy that was our driver for the week and he took us everywhere we wanted to go when we needed to go some where a great vacation also the hotel had a bunch of deer on the site that my kids loved

yes, i enjoyed it.  it's quite small and there is not a ton of nightlife...it's not that kind of place.  but for relaxation and family vacation, it's nice.
