A few of us have decided we'd like to try something new for New Years so we're off to Ireland on the 26th. I think we’ll be in the Temple Bar area but I hear it’s very touristy and $$$. Any info is much appreciated, thanks:)

  2. This is like deja-vu for me! I went to Ireland on Dec. 26th last year. We stayed in Dublin until January 1st or 2nd, I'm not quite sure which, then went on to the rest of Ireland and Northern Ireland. So I was actually in Dublin for New Years. It was awesome!

You are right, Temple Bar was very touristy and expensive, not to mention SO crowded. You would have had to go around like 5-6ish to get a spot. Every single one of the bars in Temple Bar were full.

We ended up going to a place a couple streets over, I'm not quite sure the name of it but it was a Cuban restaurant (in Ireland, hah.) but they had all traditional Irish food also. They had a Cuban DJ and a dance floor and all. It wasn't too crowded until around 10-11ish. I had a good time, everyone drank all night and then at midnight the owner came around and gave everyone champagne and everyone counted down. Outside the streets were CRAZY. They were PACKED with people dancing and cheering for a couple hours after midnight. It was so much fun.

Price wise, I remember the place we stayed at was very reasonable compared to Temple Bar. I think even if you went to Temple Bar you would have a great time too. I would just try and get out early before everything is full.

No matter where you go you are going to have so much fun. I definitely did. If you have any more questions about anything in Dublin or any other part of Ireland or Northern Ireland, don't hesitate to ask me.

I don't know if you are going to Northern Ireland, but if you are, I would HIGHLY recommend going to Giant's Causeway. It is amazing there. You can look at pictures of it but actually going there was awesome, I can't even describe it.

Have fun and like I said if you have any other questions feel free to email me =)!

Oh yeah it may say that it will be chilly but kind of warm, but it is COLD. Not as cold as it was at home (NJ) but it was definitely colder then it said it would be online. So take a lot of sweatshirts!
