  1. I have been there several times and have led groups there.  It is a fascinating period to be in Spain.  If you can go, the most famous or most spectacular Holy Week is in Sevilla (some might argue otherwise).  There are all kinds of events, but you can basically see a procession just by being in the street.

    One thing to be aware of is that during this period groups of penitents will often be dressed in white-hooded robes.

    Just because it is a religious week doesn't mean there isn't any secular or 'wild' activity.  For some it seems that it is even more wild.

    Don't forget that Passover events occur too.  If you can see some Passover events, it makes a nice contrast to the Holy Week ones.

    The site I put in the Sources list is in Spanish and for Sevilla 2005, but it gives you a good idea of what happens in Sevilla.  Anywhere you are, you will see plenty.
