  1. Liberia is in Guanacaste, the province on the north Pacific.  It is not on the beach, however it is near the best beaches in CR.  Liberia is now a very urban city, with stores, internet cafes, residencial projects and lots of english speaking people.  Beautiful beaches are less than an hour away:  Tamarindo, Flamingo, Hermosa, Potrero, etc.  There you will find many touristic activities such as snorkeling, diving, surfing, canopy, golf, birdwatching, horse backriding, etc.

You will find a wide variety of restaurants, from gourmet, pizza, seafood to Burger King and Subway.  You will have a great time,  don´t worry and enjoy our beautiful country,  Pura vida!!!

  2. the northeast area of Costa Rica has beautiful, unspoiled beaches perfect for snorkeling and diving. There are plenty of outfits to help you or guide you in this activity. The food in this area is varied and tasty. Many restaurants do not have a dress code. If you go into the wild, Brassilito has a 4 hour atv tour of the jungle with a zip line ride so you can experience the canopy. Its beautiful in this part of the country. Stay out of Tamarindo, however. There is alot of crime, dope and unsanitary water. Flamingo bay is wonderful, as well as the Nosara area. Don't bother to try to see the volcanoes because they are lost in the mist most times of the year. Have fun. Wish I was going now. I'll be there in November-the best time to go.

  3. Liberia is just your landing point (literally, its the airport), but not really where you will spend your vacation. From here you have a wide range of beaches to choose from, but it depends what sort of scene you are looking for. Many of the beach resorts in that part of Costa Rica have become very developed for luxury tourism, complete with golf courses, casinos, and nightlife (e.g. Tamarindo). But you can still find more 'peaceful' beaches if you want, but may have to go a bit further. It depends on what type of vacation you want.

In terms of the food, Tico food is generally quite simple but tasty, and you can generally find international cuisine like Italian and American style fare pretty easily.

  4. am going in Nov.  will see San Jose, Arenal and Guncanstanie.(sp?)  Liberia is suppose to be the "beach" side of Costa Rica. Recommend Fodor's Costa Rica Guide. Its provide alot of help and what to do do. have fun!  I definitly will

  5. My neighbors up and sold everything to move there. They teach a scuba diving class- Steve and Shelly. They send pictures all the time. I wish I was there
