Has anyone went to or know someone who went to police academy?

Is it hard? Is is the same as basic training in the army? Is it more physical or more mental?

I've been through the academy and it was a lot of studying, and it was physically challenging at times, but I really enjoyed the academy probably because I really was looking forward to my career in law enforcement. More mental in my opinion, BUT for those that are not in shape they would probably say more physical. Basic army training is a definite plus and will help you with both the physical and mental aspects of the academy. In my opinion though the academy was much challenging. I've been through both.

It is truly a wonderful career and I don't regret it for one minute.

I went through the Wisconsin State Patrol Academy. The physical part was not bad, you can prepare for that. The academics were challenging, as there is a lot to learn in a short time.

I also went through US Air Force basic training, and the academy is not the same, but they do intentionally induce stress to see how you react. That can be very challenging mentally.

yes, it is hard, It is both, She lost 50 pounds. She was heavy when

she went in.  So she had a personal trainer to help her,

i do not know about the basic training for the army, however our son, went through  US Marine  Corps training, it was tough he said,

however he made IT.

Go for it....congratulation's You will be protecting us, and when you get in, there are so many benefits for you and your familyl

You do not necessary have to be on the road, there are jobs within the

system.

Really go for it.

My brother in law went to the austin police academy and he has told me all about it. It's ALOT of mental work. It's pretty much going to school, to learn about the law. There is alot of studying involved, and alot of bookwork. He was also in the army, and he said that did help him through the physical part, but the majority of it was bookwork. You also have to get tased :-O.... but if you can get threw the academy, its deffinitly a good career!
