I was there a few years ago, and can't wait to go back. Just wondering if anyone else has been there or found a good agency to go through when booking a trip, or if you did all the planning on your own. Or if you had a great experience let me know if there was anything I missed when I was there!

  1. I spent three weeks there about six months ago.  I went through a travel agency that I found in the city, and paid 30 dollars per person per day US for like a nine night trip into the jungle.  I think that was very cheap.  If you go to the Yellow Rose of Texas, a restaurant that is there, you can talk to the owner.  He will try to sell you on going into the reserve with these natives at about fifty bucks a day.  This might be a good idea, or not, as I didn't go.  I did not like the trip I went on, though I tried my damnedest to get the best value possible.  Everyone there in tourism is very desperate to take your money, and so its hard to say who is reputable and who isn't.  I think maybe if you paid more like fifty or sixty bucks a day it would be better, but really I don't know.  Probably go into the reserve if you want to see anything.  In any case, good luck!  Its a really amazing city, and the people are totally crazy.  In spite of the fact that I think the jungle is like h**l on earth because of the blood sucking insects, that city is nice and the people are great.  But, I would skip the whole place and go to lake Titicaca and spend a week walking around Isla del Sol, or any of the other wonderful places that are in South America.  Iquitos is insane, though.

  2. I was there last year. Absolutely a beautiful place to visit.
