We found out that our wire haired fox terrier got e-coli or salmonela from Hartz Oinkies Pig Skin Twist chews. Out vet gave him some great pills that killed the bacteria in three days. She said he could have become very sick or worse! I bought the chews at Wal-Mart. I didn't notice they were made in China for the Hartz company. Has anyone else heard about anything like this?

  1. wow thanks for sharing your info, my dog loves those things and that is a very scary thing to have happen.... I dont think ive heard anything about those percise chews, so again thank you for sharing your expirience

  2. GOOD NOTICE.  My puppy loves the pig ears, but I only purchase them from PetCo or a store that spealizes in pet foods, they sell them as a single purchase and are not pre-packaged.  I imagine if I were in a Wal-Mart I would have been tempted to purchase those treats just as you did.  Sorry your baby had to go through this and wishing him back to health.

  3. Stay away from Hartz products!! Also stay away from anything made from china. Rawhides, Pigskins or pigears etc. are very bad for you dogs. They can't digest properly. They can cause blockages. Treats in rawhide form should be compressed chicken, something like that. Be careful when choosing treats for your pet. I'm glad he's ok! Good Luck!

  4. It's been in the news for the last year about how the Chinese are selling us defective mdse.

  5. No me, I don't buy anything for my dogs that comes from Walmart or China. And I would never feed my dogs pig skin twists.
