Has anyones goldfish ever jumped out of their tank?

My oranda fish leaps around really high and i keep having dreams that he jumps out and escapes, could this actually happen?

  2. yes, at one point my brother had two goldfish in a bowl one went missing it seemed to have disappeared ... it wasnt until we saw the the other one jumping that we realised what had happened lol!!

    - if you fish happens to jump at the rong angle or in the wrong direction it may jump out - a lid could be a good idea

  3. Goldfish are known for jumping.  I have koi and goldfish jump from the pond from time to time.

    This is more common in earthquake areas more than it is anywhere else.

  4. My mother had a beta die because it jumped out of the tank. You should probably get a lid if your fish has a habit of doing this. :)

  7. When I was 6 My 3 year old Goldfish jumped out of her bowl and landed in my Aunt's housecoat pocket. When my aunt woke up she thought my dad was playing a joke on her till she saw the fish move. So She put it back in the water where the fish lived another hour before dying. We don't know how long the poor thing was out of the water.

    When I came downstairs for breakfast my parents had to tell me what happened to my fish but as they were explaining that my beloved Goldy was dead they couldn't stop laughing.

  8. i had a goldfish that did this quite often, fortunatley i saw it before it died until the umteenth time when i found it dead on my floor.

  10. yup, used to happen to mine all the time

    we used to put a screen over the top of the tank (like from a window screen or something)  that solved the problem

  11. do you have a lid? if not yes it is possible...I also have an oranda if you want I can show you pics but any way he never jumps or anything but then again he has a lid so I am not sure!

  12. Maybe you have allowed him to watch 'Finding Nemo'. You should shield the tank from your TV next time. Yes, they do jump out and try to get back to the river/sea.

  13. My sisters fish once jumped out the tank when she was cleaning it. Yo need to get a lid for ur tank.

  14. My fish jumped out of the tank ....luckily I actualy saw it do it so I picked it up and threw it back in.....I got a deep tank after and only half filled it so the fish could not jump out !!!!
