It signaled the defeat of communism in most of the world.  That's good.

Naturally it was a good thing. I think the way in which it was handled could have been better but the end was that the people were free. 18 years later and there are no jobs, a neo-n**i problem and whole towns devoid of young people. I guess it's how you look at it. To be honest I'd rather live in Darmstadt than in Jena.

The country is whole again, however there is a substantial amount of updating and clean up work to do.

So I think the Germans are happy to see their relatives again.
