  1. For any information log on to http://delhitourism.nic.in/

  2. After taking due permission from the concerned authorities

  3. Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)

To reduce pollution in the area, Noida is setting up CNG-based outlets for vehicles. In collaboration with Indraprastha Gas Ltd., gas will also be provided to industrial, residential and commercial units in Noida. Distribution of CNG is also covered under the essential services being provided by NOIDA.

Extending the Infrastructure for Natural Gas Vehicles in India

GAIL (Gas Authority of India Ltd.) and IndianOil Corp are forming a joint venture to supply compressed natural gas (CNG) for vehicles and piped natural gas (PNG) for homes and businesses in Agra (home of the Taj Mahal) and Lucknow.

Green Car Congress (12 May 2005) Agra and Lucknow, India: GAIL (Gas Authority of India Ltd.) and IndianOil Corp are forming a joint venture to supply compressed natural gas (CNG) for vehicles and piped natural gas (PNG) for homes and businesses in Agra (home of the Taj Mahal) and Lucknow.

The Indian government is encouraging the use of CNG and PNG to reduce pollution in the cities. The new joint venture company will begin supplying gas in the two cities

The joint venture company will phase in seven CNG stations in Agra and two CNG stations in Lucknow. The company will initially supply natural gas to 16,600 automobile, 1,000 residential and 20 commercial consumers in Agra and to 1,950 automobile, 1,000 residential and 62 commercial consumers in Lucknow.

CNG is available in Chandigarh, Agra & Jaipur too.

Following Delhi and Mumbai, other polluted Indian cities, in particular Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Kanpur are set to shift to compressed natural gas (CNG) in a big way, according to a roadmap prepared by Gail. Also, other cities which have not been identified by the Supreme Court but are economically viable to make available the green fuel have set targets for as close to ’07, reports.

While HPCL has already commissioned nine CNG stations for Ahmedabad, in Lucknow, two CNG stations in addition to the one commissioned in April ’06 will be set up next year. Also, in Lucknow, IOC and GAIL plan to set up 17 stations. In Kanpur, BPCL and Gail are in the process of commissioning two stations in addition to the existing two.

CNG is expected to be available in Hyderabad by ’08. A total of 0.1 million standard cubic meter per day (mmscmd) has been allocated for Andhra Pradesh. Gail is in talks with domestic producers like Reliance industries (RIL) and Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation who are expected to produce gas in the region by ’08.

In Pune, gas supply to city gate station has been planned by Gail as part of Dabhol-Panvel pipeline project which is expected to be completed by end-’07. This will be followed by Pune’s first CNG station by January 31, ’08. However, the progress in Bangalore and Chennai seems to be slow as Gail is yet to take up the market survey and demand estimation for these cities. The probable source for gas supply in Chennai will be RIL gas, when starts flowing through the proposed Kakinada-Chennai pipeline.

Other cities that were not ordered for a clean-up by the apex court are also graduating to the greener fuel. In Vijaywada and Vadodara, CNG is already being supplied by Bhagyanagar Gas and Gail respectively. In Thane, CNG is supplied by Mahanagar Gas as in Mumbai. The allocation, though is yet to match the volume of the gas required by the city in these regions.

Navi Mumbai will start its CNG activity by ’07 after the pipeline is laid. In Indore, a feeder pipeline is being laid by GAIL and HPCL for availability of CNG by ’07. HPCL is also involved in Rajkot and Kota, where the volume of CNG required has been identified over 0.5 mmscmd and the gas is expected to be available by ’07.

HPCL has also taken up CNG plans in Jaipur and Udaipur but there will have to be a long wait till ’10 when the feeder pipelines will be ready.
