I mean everyones giving all this sympathy to Georgia as if they have just randomly been attacked by Russia. Georgia invaded South Ossettia first remember, why is Georgia and the world so surprised that Russia is going all out on Georgia when they've been looking for an excuse to do so for a number of years. Sure, Russia is going way to far with Georgia, but Georgia were aware what would happen if they invaded South Ossettia, so they should face the consequence shouldn't they? It seems to me as if politicians and the world are forgetting how this whole thing actually came about. What are your thoughts?

  1. abbreviated argument.  s ossetian separatist terrorists - backed by russia -  have been butchering georgian citizens. georgia defended itself.

  2. No with respect it is you who sems to have "forgotten" the history of the area. Could I try to explain a few facts. South Osettia lies south of the Caucasus.  Russia is entirely north of the Caucasus!  The frontier between Russia and Georgia/Azerbaijan has always been the Caucasus since 1917.

Moreover South Osettia, though its people speak a difference language to the majority of Georgians, was nevertheless accepted as part of the Republic of Georgia (and not part of the Republic of Russia) within the Soviet Union by every Russian leader from 1917 until the end of the Soviet Union. That wasalso accepted by the Supreme Soviet and Presidium of the USSR! After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Georgia was one of many former constituent republics of the USSR that decided to become an independent Democratically. So did Azerbaijan .

So that means under international law the status of South Ossettia today is basically comparable to Wales being part of the United Kingdom but within the EU. Just as Wales was part of the UK before Britain joined the Common Market. So this fact means if Plaid Cymru decided to declare unilaterial independence for Anglesey on the grounds that the people of Anglesey speak Welsh as their first language not English, and if Eire then decided to create mischief by giving away Irish passports to all Welsh speakers living in Anglesey, it would not make Anglesey part of the Republic of Ireland.

Nor would it be in any way lawful if British police were then sent in from England to restore order in Anglesey for Ireland to retaliate militarily by sending in tanks into England and to open fire on the civilian population and English Police. Nor wouldit be in any way justifiable for the Irish Air Force to bomb civilian areas of Liverpool, Manchester and London, nor for Welsh nationalists to loot people's homes in English villages and terrorise the civilian population throughout England? Nor would it be lawful if the Irish navy also blockaded all ports in England and Scotland explicitly to prevent any merchant shipping getting in with cargoes such as food for the British people.

  3. Just leave them to it, I couldn't give a toss if they blew the shite out of each other.

  4. Two  wrongs do not make one right.

  5. South Ossetia was a part of Georgia.  They broke away in the early 90s and declared their independence.  Georgia decided to fight that this year.  Russia then invaded Georgia.  This is basically just like the US Civil War, except instead of the North just fighting the South, it would have been the North fighting the South with England using all of its might to back the South and fight actively against the North.  Just imagine what a difference that would have made to the outcome.

  6. The real reason is that Russia have got the hump that Georgia are going to join the UN and move out of Russia's sphere of influence

  7. Isn't South Ossettia part of Georgia?

  8. You should check your facts. Russia pre-planned its illegal invasion of Georgia by increasing its so called 'peacekeepers' without permission from Georgia, it armed the separatists and joined them in attacking Georgia in the run up to the Olympics. The n***s used the same border skirmishes to launch full scale invasions on its neighbours. If Russia gets away with this illegal invasion, I would bet the Crimea will follow.

  9. Politicians always have their own agenda anyway so it really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Bush is probably a bit confused and still thinks it is Georgia USA
