Has feminism destroyed the good old cliffhangers. In days of yore, before the filmmakers went overboard with special effects and computer tricks, there were some great films around.

  1. Feminism has had NOTHING to do with it...you sound like Anatol.

The only thing feminism has changed, in terms of films, is that now films don't feature such stratified gender roles and the female characters are sometimes treated like the equals they are.  Additionally, the ridiculous dominance that men used to have over females has finally gone out of most films, as it should be.  Such dominance was unnatural.

  2. "Beautiful, daring heroines" would never have existed without the foundation of feminism.  Read your own link, please.

By the way, Annie Oakley was the greatest show before shows were captured on moving pictures and called movies.

  3. I had forgotten all about how the movies used to be till I read your link.  Great article, brings back memories.  When the movies used to be fun to go to.  Now it's all bs.

Yeah the movies today are total c**p.  No plot but a lot of noise.  They are totally stupid.  What gets me is how many people LIKE them!  Indeed we have been "dumbed down."  Guess they are good for brainwashing the masses...

  4. I don't think that feminism had anything to do with it. Hollywood (or whatever the equivalent is in your neck of the woods) just sucks!

  5. Ohhh right , now i see what your mission is all about fella !

    TROLL!

  6. Please, in your own personal opinion, how can you link feminism to the change in plots, themes, and story lines of movies?

Why do some of you guys feel that everything that changes in the world that is not the same as when you where a kid, or doesn't go along with what you believe to be right, it has to be the work of feminist? What does feminist have to do with old time movies? where did you see in the description on the website given that feminist had a hand in the subject material of movies?

  7. Yeah, why not create your own Soap series, could call it Royal watch, you and your cronies could write all sorts of exciting scripts and create all kinds of Cliffhangers with all kinds of twists and turns, filled with ghoulish horror. Let your personality really show and create an outlet for all your repressed emotions and lack of anything meaningful in your life. Go for it baby...

  8. I don't go to the movies anymore. To many wimpy men. I yearn for the days of Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson.

  9. I loved the Green Hornet which your site mentioned despite the old damsel in distress moments.

BTW I thought Star Wars was much more sexist even-though it started in the late '70s

TV and Movie execs could make modern versions of cliff hangers. Ones where the woman was not always the one waiting to be saved and was just there to look good. Its a fun format to watch. The Batman TV ,Lost in Space and Green Hornet TV series were like that.

The problem today in Hollywood they lack talent and they know it.

What you see nowadays is a weak attempt to convince you that their new trends and technology are cutting edge and if you do not like it you are stuck in the past.

In fact it just hides their complete lack of writing and story telling ability.
