  1. football will never lose its soul as long as the british stands the ground.

  2. it was lost years ago when a certain club decided money and scratching the fa's back was more important than the greatest domestic club cup in the world

  3. No they still know exactly where it is....with the working classes

  4. yes

    soul of football=

    long haired men

    with muddy faces

falling and rolling over the grass (and gettinb back up again)

    a hobby, a passion

    the love of community

    local civility

    GONE....

thanks to complete idiots such as david effing beckham

  5. Unfortunately, that soul is long gone. Billionaires are now buying up whatever English club they can get their hands on, with the eventual goal of building all-star teams out of the poorer clubs best players.

  6. i think it lost it so long ago i can't even remember, probably after england's dismal showing in mexico in 1970.

soul; i watch indian kids kicking a make shift ball on the beach in goa,

you buy them a ball , then you see the soul of football- the look in their eyes, the effort and fun and raw talent - sheer joy.

but the professional game - its big business, but like someone else said most people support their team whatever.

tonight i'm feeling really sorry for west ham supporters.and newcastle

cos no-one will explain what is going on.

i think we are all in shock over man city. i wonder if it had been someone like liverpool or arsenal whether there would have been such a response. and hey man city supporters , bet you're smiling.

can't wait for the league to get going again.

  7. Yes

    1. Sold out to TV who now dictate kick off times.   Bring back 3 pm on Saturdays

    2. All seated grounds destroyed atmosphere.   The Hillsborough disaster brought this on but that was down to bad crowd control

    3. Getting worse now that multi millionaires are buying clubs - reduces chances of youth players coming through

The soul of football is the build up of anticipation on a Saturday morning, the post match analysis/discussion over a pint after the game then studying the league tables and reading thye match reports in the Sunday papers to see how your team is doing.   Nowadays the league tables don't mean anything until Tuesday when all the teams catch up

  8. Not yet, but its definitely for sale

  9. It will never be lost because most british people are brought up supporting a football team, so it is passed from gerneration to gerneration
