  1. Yes it is.  Its too new, and no long term studies have been done, among other things.

I'd never get it if I were in the age range.

  2. no it hasn't. i have taken 2 out of the 3 garadasil shots and i'm fine and everyone i know that has gotten the shot has not suffered any sides effects. the only side effect that may happen is the arm will be sore for a couple of days. My arms felt numb and real painful when i got the shot and it hurt for 2 to 3 days, but other than that i have not suffered any side effects

  3. A few people I know have friends that have been partially paralyzed from the vaccine.  There's a group of people that have banded together on the internet and are trying to figure out if this has happened to enough people to warrant a class action lawsuit.

I really don't believe it's a necessary vaccine, but I do understand your wanting to protect your daughter.  I think the best way for you to do that is by not having her get this vaccine but speak with her about safe s*x practices so that she is less likely to contract HPV.

Gardasil doesn't even treat all things that could cause cervical cancer so, really, you're only protecting her from if she decides to have unsafe s*x, is the way I look at it.

The doctor is paid to tell you it's okay, the pharmaceutical companies have a good hold on them.  But read these articles:

As the parent responsible for your child's safety, it's ultimately up to you to weigh the risks and rewards.  If it was me, I would look at the fact that she'll still carry the risk of getting cervical cancer even with this vaccine.  Talk to her about safe s*x.  It could be just as effective as Gardasil, WITHOUT the risks.

As someone in the age range, I would NOT chose this for myself.

  4. There is no data that Guardasil is dangerous. What is dangerous is the transmission of HPV and the possible occurrence of cervical cancer. I work in a surgery center and one of our Gynecologist talked to me about the disturbing number of very young women with abnormal pap smears due to HPV. Every vaccine has its risks, but HPV is something that is passed around by regular everyday people without their knowledge most of the time. At this point it is your choice, but I got it for my daughter.

  5. I think it's too early to tell. I'm choosing to not be the test bunny. I have four more years until I turn 26 so I'm waiting to get it.
