Question:

Has has Darwinism had an effect on racism? ?

If humans evolved from an ape like animal it would stand to reason that all races were not evolved at exactly the same time. This would mean that there are races of humans that are further removed from their ape like form' than others.

Wouldn't this theory, then, be an excuse for people to be racists? It seems like a dangerous theory to me but I may have it all wrong, (please tell me if I do).

I'm not a creationist; or a racist for that matter; but I was wondering what others thought.

  1. This has always been interesting to me.

I think humans/people are humans/people. The proof of this is when two people of different races procreate, their offspring can still reproduce meaning we're all the same BUT at the same time, I think what if it's not that simple? Especially how a Chihuahua and a Beagle are obviously different breeds/'races' of dogs yet they can still procreate with their offspring being able to reproduce as well...

Hope you understand what I mean... so I don't know.

  2. Stay in school as long as you can.

No, all races on the planet stem from a small group of females related to one another. This has been proven by mitochondrial DNA. The path taken by small groups of offspring has been determined by tracking this DNA along the western coast of Africa through India and onto Australia. While in India some stayed, others went north and some went west to claim Europe. Of the ones who went north some crossed into North America and settled two continents. However it seems as though a small gap in fossil records indicate two migrations with the first one lasting a long time (Clovis people) and a sudden massive die off that remains unexplained, only theorized. The purest bloodlines of any people on the planet to what the original "Adam and Eve" looked like would be the Aboriginal people of Australia.

  3. You sound like an anti semite. Are you an anti semite?

  4. Interesting, but absoultely not. People are darker skinned because they stay in the sun more and sh*t like that. It's all science.

  5. No that's just stupid.

  6. Evolution's not a case of evolving to an ultimate organism.

It can (& does) branch out infinitely- that's why we're not all flat worms or hippos!

Darwin's theories have been used to justify racism and eugenics.

It doesn't mean that the theories are flawed- it means that people will use every available weapon to further their clan/tribe.

  7. Yes, you have it all wrong.

Since racism in the west is usually aimed at people of African descent, all that is necessary is to point out that in many respects, Africans show more divergence from our ape-like ancestors than Caucasians do. For example, large lips are in fact not apelike. If you look at the face of our closest relatives, the chimps, when their mouth is closed, they have quite small lips.

Likewise, the bodies of Africans have less hair than Caucasians, which again is less apelike. Furthermore, race and racism are based on differences in culture (not even inherited) and differences of details in physical appearance, which are inherited but minor and quite adaptable to environment.

And yes, there have been attempts to use Darwinism to endorse racism, but not successfully.
