wasn't Madagascar where prisoners were sent from Europe so genetic data would be mixed i think Jews were exiled there from Germany

They are made up of an Austronesian population first, with some Bantu Africans as a later addition. Odd but true. That huge island sat just off Africa since time began but it got colonised from SE Asia first!
