  3. Yes, it has started to be a common practice.  I first noticed it while shopping at Old Navy two years ago.

  6. they do that all the time when I return things. some stoes just ask for my postal code even when I didn't return things because they want to see where there buisness is coming from.

  7. yeah, they just do that as surveys to see where most of their business is coming from, also that is generally where they will send coupons by mail

  8. The first answer is correct- they ask your zip code to find out where the buisness is coming from. You are not required to answer. They should not be asking any other information from you.

  9. No, not to me, unless I was applying for a store card or something.

  10. Radio Shack does that all the time especially.  

    Were you like...buying a preschool or something?  Curious what you purchased that had to do with preschools.
