It seems that today more than ever, whenever one asks an average American what their worldly opinion is on a particular subject, a autonomous regurgitation of information comes out, and it sounding strikingly similar to what I heard on the News. No questions on the part of the audience, just apathy and acceptance of information which to them at least, has never been proved for them personally or considerably researched. Of course it is fine to disagree with me, but think about it, and try to answer without bias and maybe you will enlighten me.

  1. There are only just so much information that can be covered in any depth. Major issue are normally about the economy, war and peace, and social programs. Do you know what bills are coming before the U.S. House of Representatives  and U.S. Senate this week and next week and the committees that are holding hearings. Do you want to comment or make a suggestion to improve a bill?? Do you know what is on the agenda in the (Your State) Legislature???? Perhaps more people should demand this information be presented in the newspapers all across the country and reported on the television call in Your State Next Two Week or some similar title. Why don't you write to you state legislator and ask him to pass a bill for you: State Agenda Bill

Resolved that all newspapers in (Your State) list all the upcoming proposed legislation coming up in the Legislature  and the State Senate in the next two weeks. This information is to be published  in every newspaper in the state in the Sunday edition, of all newspapers in the state that have Sunday editions.

You might write your Congressman and Senator and request a similar bill!!!!!!!!!

  2. The purpose of the mainstream media is to feed the myrmidons their daily dose of pablum. The truth unvarnished would bring down the government and their corporate overlords. The truth would lead to revolution, anarchy, and reformation. So we can't have that now, can we?

  3. Indirectly, yes.

Mainstream media is responsible for the dumbing down of America.  We've gotten to the point that if we can't understand it in 30 seconds and it's not resolved in a half hour (or an hour, depending on what kind of show it is), we can't seem to comprehend it.

The result is that we have no patience anymore, and we tend to lose interest in things.

It's hard to ask people to question things with that kind of attention span.

  4. ABSOLUTELY.

  5. I will agree, with even more assertiveness.  Mainstream media decides what part of a political statement is the Hot phrase and then goes to some other person, maybe some idiot, to get a contrary view, then poses those two views as the entirety of the issue.  This tends to reshape the issue to a 30 second news bite with mostly slogans and smears.
