Question:

Has my female green tree frog got a gender problem?

Last summer she mated and layed eggs in our vivarium! We had 40 little froglets we released in the bush. She is 3 years old and never croaked before, until a few weeks ago and now she croaks when the males croak (a different kind of call - more higher pitched than the males). They are all in the same vivarium.

All my frogs have unique markings so their is no confusion between who is who.

Has my frog become bisexual or changed s*x?

Help please from a very confused pet owner.

  1. I read this on a sight about the tree frogs: "Females will only usually croak if they are distressed, and this is more of a 'squawk' than a croak. When males croak, it lasts more than a few seconds and sounds like "WOK WOK WOK WOK WOK WOK". "

So maybe your poor froggy is having issues.

  2. wow! frogs are not bisexual! and shame on you for releashing 40 frogs! congrats you broke a law, probably killed little frogs, and destroyed the ecosystem!
