Question:

Has my switch from soda to water made a difference already?

I used to drink Sprite at restaurants 1-4 times a week. Each trip, I have at least two or more tall glasses. On occasion, I will drink other sodas as well.

1-3 days a week or more, I had a 64 oz. Slurpee from 7-Eleven.

I had water on rare occasions, and drank skim milk if no soda was available. I drank diet soda on occasion, but I normally had non-diet.

A little less than two weeks ago, I stopped drinking soda. I have been drinking 64 oz. of water each day (using the same mug I had my Slurpees in). When I go out to eat, I drink water with lemon juice or just plain water.

Over the past two days, I have noticed that my bras (which were purchased about a month ago and fit me perfectly at the time) are loose.

I have not done much else to improve my health. I have started to eat some healthier options at restaurants, and when I must eat fast food I am getting the smaller portions in general. However, I am still struggling with my junk food habit. The only real change I have made is drinking more water.

Is the change in drinking water related to why my bras are loose? Is it too early for the water to actually do anything, or does water even make a difference?

Thank you.

  1. Yes, it is.

As a woman, you're going to start losing weight (whether it be water weight or fatty tissue) in places like your b*****s and thighs first, and your abdomen last. Don't be shocked that your bras are getting looser, it's perfectly natural. Though it does suck that we lose weight where we DON'T want to lose it, eh?

Keep up the good work! Water is *so* much healthier :)

  2. Non-diet soda has LOTS of calories!    If you stopped drinking soda, that's about 250 to 300 calories per 20oz. bottle that you do not have to burn off with exercise!  A 64 oz. slurpee would have close to 900 calories, or about 1/3 to 1/2 of your daily calorie needs.

    Keep up the good work!

  3. I'd say that's quick enough. I once went on like a two week sugar-free diet just to try it out and I noticed things within that time. It sounds like you're cutting a ton of sugar out so I wouldn't be surprised.

  4. WATER IS MAKING A HUGE DIFF. STICK WITH IT , ITS DEFF THE WATER. PPL CAN LOSE UP TO 20LBS A YEAR JUST FROM STOPPING SODA.

  5. Just cutting the sprite from the restaurants is enough to make you lose 1/2 pound of fat every week.  Cutting the slurpie cuts out about 900 calories if it was a 64 ounce one so assuming you had 3 slurpees a week thats 2700 calories or almost 1 pound of fat you would lose per week.  So just cutting the restaurant sprites, and the slurpees will make you lose about 1.5 pounds per week.  Also your first week you lose alot weight because you are not getting all the sodium thats in those drinks, so i wouldnt be surprised if you lost over 10 pounds over the last 2 weeks in fat and water weight just because you cut yourself off from those drinks.

  6. Yes it will.

  7. It is possible. My husband lost 25 pounds in about six months by not drinking soda.
