Everybody knows that prostitution is commonplace in certain countries of Southeast Asia. That's why sleazy tourist agencies have "s*x tourism" specials, where wealthy perverts can go and do things that they'd be locked up for at home.

The problem is there are many poor people who cannot afford to buy food or shelter, and often there is no education or work for women. Some are girls who are sold by their families to organized prostitution rings because they cannot support them. Others are merely trying to survive, or are trying to support their own children. Generally the women involved are victims of abuse or neglect, and organized crime and corrupt governments are the ones who make the money off their misery and virtual slavery.

Why should a wealthy tourist who visits such a country for the sole purpose of breaking the law and taking advantage of desperate women in this way be immune from arrest and prosecution? It almost sounds like someone we know got caught.

s*x tourism is generally illegal and is always immoral. You are responsible for your own actions, as I tell the 10 year old kids I teach. Grow up.

In their country it may not be unerage, and we have no right to say another culture is wrong and that ours is right. They're just different.
