  1. Hey the Ukrainne rocks! Be sure to visit Velikovski's Hemeroid Ointment factory. And the recycled tractor tyre plant was a gas.

  2. I was there 2 years ago now.. It can be boring but yet interesting and fun with much history... I stayed in the ukraina hotel in the Independence Square. Location was good with great views from the hotel but you really need a new room as the hotel was being done up at the time i was there.. I heard the Vozdvizhensky Hotel was very like western hotels.. There is much to see in Kiev, to much to write here really.. But please read the links below as they will tell you everything you need to know and what to see.. You can ever go and see the Chernobyl nuclear disaster site!!! which is very close to Kiev... Kiev is worth a visit just to cure your curiosity i think.. I travelled alone and no problems at all... English is spoken by younger people in some places but can be difficult sometimes to find someone that speaks it..The main street (Khreschatyk Street) has tunnels under it to cross under the main road these you need to be wise when using alone late during the night as winter time everyone! eats, chats.drinks and shops in these.. Check the links out below andhave fun! Sorry i have not been to any other places in Ukraine other then Kiev (Kyiv)

  3. A country of eastern Europe bordering on the Black Sea. Inhabited in early times by Scythians and Sarmatians, it was overrun by a number of conquerors, including Goths and Huns, until the rise of Kiev in the 9th century. The region came under the control of Lithuania in the mid-14th century and later passed to Poland and then to Russia (between 1680 and 1793). After the Russian Revolution an independent republic was proclaimed (1918), but Soviet troops retook control, and in 1922 it became one of the original constituent republics of the USSR, known as the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. During World War II the republic suffered severe devastation under German occupation and underwent many territorial changes. Ukraine gained its independence following the collapse of the USSR in 1991. Kiev is the capital and largest city. Population: 48,000,000.

  4. YoMomma, how could your answer possibly be chosen as best answer when it doesn't even answer the question!?! Plus you're source needs to be credited as it was almost certainly not you who typed that. Sorry if it seems rude but what a cheek to actually ask for best answer!

You just copied and pasted a history of the Ukraine, when what was asked for if anyone has been there, what they thought of it and a list of things to do and see when visiting.

Well having been to Kiev, it's one of the best places I've been to, it has loads to do, it has alot of nature for a city, you'll find trees everywhere you go and the Central Botanical Garden's which are worth a visit. Take a trip to the Crimean Cost which has a very Mediterranean feel. Remember Ukraine has only been independant of the USSR since 1991 so it's still finding it's feet and it's a huge country in comparison to the rest of Eastern Europe.

I did read somewhere that Kiev hosted Eurovision a few years ago which boosted tourism and relaxed there visa restrictions to enter the country.
