Did you major in criminal justice? I am hearing different things about what to major in. Both of my sisters are attending law school, one majored in psycology and the other in criminal justice. They are both telling me to get a bachelors degree which isn't law related and then attend law school. Reason being I would be able to have more options for employment after graduation in case law school doesn't work out or I don't like it. Is a bachelors in marketing a good idea or should I major in criminal justice then attend law school. I also do not have alot of money yet and would like to work after graduation from college and don't see many employment opportunities for a criminal justice major without law school.

  1. Law schools will take basically any major. The most common are (according to my school): History, Political Science and English. What they really care about is your LSAT score and your GPA. Law school involves countless hours of dense reading as well as clear writing skills so you may want to take classes, like English or Philosophy, to increase your skills. Your actual major isn't so important - but you may want to major in something typically seen as practical, like business and minor (or double major) in something like English.

I wouldn't recommend criminal justice. It won't prepare you much and you seem as though you aren't interested in the career opportunities it offers.
