Has "global warming" made your life better or worse?

As a Canadian I welcome global warming. Besides temperatures said to be 1-2 degrees warmer the weather is unpredictable and fun.

In Canada we should be doing more to support global warming rather than prevent it from occuring.

We have most of the worlds fresh water. Global Warming will rise demand for drinking water.

It will increase the growing season and rainfall for Canadian farmers.

Snow levels have actually increased in the winter with more extreme weather.

Imagine being able to swim in the ocean and actually enjoy it.

Global Warming is the best thing to happen to Canada and parts of the United States.

Stop worrying about it and in enjoy it.

  1. THE SKY IS FALLING THE SKY IS FALLING!!!!! oops my bad that's Folks that buy into this B.S. line. besides since plants use carbon dioxide to grow wouldn't that mean that starving folks might have a chance a grow some food? Oops sorry, probably not since allot of these same folks are also against genetic modification of plants as well. There has been developed a strain of corn that is heat and disease resistant yet the same folks don't want to use that either. Its awful easy to be an activist when you have a full belly. It seems to me that right now its the trendy thing to do..like adopting babys from third world countrys or carrying around a small dog. buncha hypocrites.

  2. Global warming is pissing me off.  I live in the prairies and you can notice a huge difference especially in the winter.  Winter is much shorter than when I was a kid (about 10 years ago).  I remember hoping the snow would melt by my birthday (in late May) when I was a kid and now I have been camping for my birthday for the last 5 years with warm weather!  So this sounds good eh?  No...the animals look like c**p and are going crazy.  They used to be beautiful and majestic but now they're skinny and tattered looking.  Unfortunately we get very little rain in the summer now, the ground is cracked and dried to h**l.  The farmers had nice warm weather but couldn't take advantage because of the lack of water.  When this doesn't happen, the problem is usually that they have too much water and the whole place floods making fields look literally like lakes.  It seems that we can't have moderate, normal weather.  And with the floods come the contamination of our important freshwater.  Lake Winnipeg is practically toxic partly because of the 97 flood.  All the flood water containing farming nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorous) eventually drained into the lake and is now causing algal blooms that make it unsafe to even swim in!  Animals evolved in a specific niche at specific temperatures.  They can't just put on a sweater if it gets too cold or shave their fur if it gets too hot...they die!  For example, in a warm ocean that was cold for millions of years, the animals will die (think the polar bears), their bodies rotting in the warm water causing smaller organisms to flourish...maybe they're cyanobacteria...which release toxins into the water.  The fact is, that environmental issues have many causes and even more consequences, many of which we can't even forsee.  I agree with you, Canada does have a lot freshwater and other resources that will soon be extremely valuable but we must protect them so we are not in the same situation as the rest of world...and so we can continuously have our resources to sell to the rest of the world.  Protecting our environment now is protecting our future.  So while global warming is a global issue that needs a global solution, we as Canadians can't do anything except protect ourselves...if we do that, we will be a very rich country.

  3. Vancouver and a lot of people on low lying areas the East Coast would disagree.

Dealing with coastal flooding and redoing agriculture to deal with changing patterns of temperature and precipitation will cost all Canadians huge sums of money.

Honest, you won't like it.  It's not just a case of things getting a little warmer.

  4. Everyone says global warming is more than just a slight change in temperature and climate.

They are wrong. Once climate change reaches a point its actions will result in a counter action returning the world back to equilibrium.

Example: Warming causes sea levels to rise. Flooding kills thousands in Bangladesh and elsewhere (not Canada and much of the US). Pollution drops. World cools.

  5. Lucky you for living in Canada!

In Britain we are enjoying one of the most beautiful springs on record, with the hope of a really hot summer to follow.

I'm not sure about global warming, I think it is just cyclical.  Back in the 70's and 80's we were snowed in a few times in Kent, and we were told that we were heading for the new Ice Age.

Hey presto, we are now heading for global catastrophe because we are using too much fossil fuels.  The earth is so magnificent, so strong, so wonderful, far more so than we puny humans.  It will put itself to rights and continue the way it was always going to in the first place.

Oh yes, and I believe the polar bears have been around for donkeys years (so to speak) and have seen all this before.

    They are great survivors.

I agree with you, enjoy it.

  6. There are no coastal flooding ,don't give that as data . There are about 30 ships trapped in the ice what is the cause of that .it is not geting warmer.
