The majority of the founders were slave owners and slavery was a core issue in our civil war, so yes I'd say rascism has something to do with the fact.

Contributed, yes.

But it hasn't been the only cause.

It still would have taken a very long time to get someone who is not white in the White House, even without slavery, Jim Crow laws, and all that.

Look at African countries that had white leadership and now have black leadership.  Where do you want to be here with white leadership or Zimbabwe.
