  1. The holy fasting month of Ramadan will start Monday, September 1, in most Arab and Gulf countries as well as North America and European countries.

"There was no evidence of any person seeing the new crescent today," Saudi Arabia's Judicial Council confirmed in a statement on Saturday, August 30. Therefore, Sunday, August 31, will be the last day of the month of Sha`ban and Ramadan will fall on Monday, September 1, added the council.

Based on calculations, more than 35 countries have announced that the first day of Ramadan will be on Monday, September 1

  8. http://www.icoproject.org/icop/ram29.htm...

Heres the website telling you that only a  couple of countruies have witnessed the moon, based on one or two peoples statements. The moon was neither seen in Saudi Arabia or any middle eastern country.

So should you follow Saudi? the question is no! I men i cant seem to understand that the whole world hasnt seen the moon including Saudi, so why are they starting Ramadan? The answer well is unknown, but the official day is tuesday 2nd sept cos thirty days of shaban finish on Monday Night so tuesday Morning Ramadan Mubarak Everyone

  9. north america? where in north america? the moon where i am located has not been sited. ramadan will not start until the sep 2nd  for us in kentucky

  10. in one calendar saturday was 29th of Shaban and Sunday is 30th.  because the moon wasn't sighted on 29th, it is declared to be Ramadan from the evening of sunday(meaning on Monday).  This is the global/international sighting.

another calendar says Sunday is 29th of Shaban,  and therefore they are waiting to sight the moon night of Sunday and accordingly they will find (or already have) and will declare Monday or Tuesday as Ramadaan.

Many communities in the west have more than one day of starting the month of Ramadaan, therefore if you have a choice, follow the international sighting.  If you don't have a choice, then follow your community and masjid inshallah.

I hope that clarifies you confusion inshallah.

    salaamun aleiki
