Question:

Has sportsmanship gone out the window? Re SA and England!?

Sies man, as a proud "soutpiel" I was rooting for the Boks and half my family for England. SA won (not the greatest performance) and England lost ( a miracle they got to the final considering)....15-6 and there it stops! England were unlucky to have their try disallowed, I don't think it was a try....foot in touch, but it is a harline decision at the end of the day! I can't understand where all this bitching on here is coming from.... The English were good enough not to whinge and blame the ref and everything from food poisoning (remember the All Blacks) to who knows what (Australia).... C'mon guys let's show some of the sportsmanship here that was shown on the pitch and leave the nauseating gloating and the peevish whinging to the Aussies and the All Blacks (one thing they will always be world champions in....!!!! LOL).

Hurray for SA and well done to England for their great come back!!!!

  1. Nice question and good comments from a like minded SA fan. I think press hype skews and incites fans to lose their perspective. The best comments and the best blogs are when the supporters recognise that it is but a game played by mortals. The essence of sport is to strive for victory and in doing so not to lose your dignity or principles and to do your best whatever the outcome. That is what this final was about. England did great, (I was always worried about them!) SA also scaled a mountain that was fraught with political meddling and administration infighting. During all of this the press have to sell their papers and do they ever stir the pot. Come on sport fans lets remember why sport is sport .

  2. Overall a good game by two good teams who played their hearts out to win.   One side had to lose and that was England this time.  Well done SA.   So lets look on the good side and appreciate just how many folk watched the match - and enjoyed it.

  3. thank you for your comments

  4. Sadly, many on here take these sort of things far too seriously!

I agree with you; its only a game and if you lose take it on the chin.

But these anoymous  forums are always going to attract the whingers & wind-up merchants.

  5. Well done to South Africa, i've seen photographs that conclude it definately wasn't a try so this ends now.

I'm glad my second favourite team won (i have family in Jo'burg) and especially glad that my team (England) got to the final and gave a good account of themselves.

I hope this quota system doesn't hurt SA Rugby too much as they've missed out on a great talent in Cricket (Kevin Pieterson) because of it.

Mostly though i hope Egland can rebuild a young squad to challenge for the 2011 cup, hopefully Brian Ashton will stay on but not as head coach, i'd like to see him as a coach with Martin Johnson as a team manager.

    Well done Bokke!!!

  6. VIVA BOKKE IT WAS A GOOD GAME IT SEEMS 2 THAT THIS IS THE ONLY SPORT THAT WE ARE GOOD IN

  7. I think it's a case of saying really well done to South Africa, superb rugby playing nation with the right attitude.

I'll just have to hope that England can rebuild and try and win it in 2011.

  8. A fairer result could never exist - the try, if allowed would have been a travesty if England had then gone on to win the game.

I am English, and believe the better side won this match.

    Well done, SA!

  9. MJ - I could not agree with you more mate.

Great game, the right team one and an awesome party was had by all!

  10. You have to give credit to the English to come back from 36-0 to the finals. They played a tight game, but it was the better team that won. A team can only be as good as their competition...

    WELL DONE BOKKE!
