  1. no it has not been BUT it has been for many years

long ago the first race was at a track called Riverside in California followed by Daytona

  2. no it has changed over the years and i mean a long time ago

  3. The first Daytona 500 was on Febuary 22, 1959. And NASCAR has been established before the start of the Daytona 500, so the answer your question...no.

  4. yes

  5. Actually the answer is no.  The Daytona 500 has been the season opener only since 1982.  Prior to that (at least as far back as 1975) the first race of the season was the Winston West 500 at Riverside International Raceway in California.

  6. Sure has and I hope it never changes.

  7. No, it was not. For example, for most of the time that NASCAR raced there, the now gone, Riverside International Raceway (CA), a road course was the first race of the season.

There was no "Daytona 500" until the speedway was built in 1960. Even before that, the races on the beach at Daytona were not the first race of the season.

  8. Ever since they used to actually run on the beach in 1948.....

by the way, CHRYSLER was the car to beat back then.
