Question:

Has the Nobel Peace Prize lost its credibility?

With people like Carter, Gore, and Arafat being recipients, while strong leaders are unrewarded, I wonder if the Nobel Peace Prize has become meaningless.

Watching someone being awarded the Nobel Peace Price is becoming akin to watching the wrong actor get the Oscar. Sort of the same thing.

It appears that the prize is awarded to pacify evil people (Arafat) or to reward those who would timidly passify evil people (Carter). So has it really become a "thanks for not killing us yet" award?

Has this award lost all credibility?

  1. Not at all.

  2. It is a worthless award. Look at the names you just mentioned, need anyone look any further???? Quite frankly, if someone were to offer it to me, I would refuse based on the track record.

  3. Absolutely!  The Nobel Peace prize is a joke.

It has no credibility except amongst lefties and  Liberals.

With regard to the Oscars, they have the same value. To win an oscar you have to do and say politically correct things.

Look at the recent recipients: Al Gore, Michael Moore,

  4. Of course. It's a joke.

  5. It's your perspective, just b/c US doesn't agree, or it is not parallel to US politics, doesn't make it less valuable. If it's lost it's prestige & credibility why is it still a very big deal.

Arafat (Arab-Israeli conflict) perspective is different, he maybe disliked in the US, but rest of the world he was very popular, Nelson Mandela for example. Most of the countries in the world see Israel is an aggressor, remember his popular UN speech, "I come with a gun and olive branch in my hand."

Gore deserves it, b/c only in US the global warming is a myth, EU for example takes it very seriously. He's done well to highlight the issue in US and around the world. Hence the organization takes the issue very seriously as well, and rightfully, and with popular consensus awarded Gore the prize.

Carter, again US political perspective does not represent views of everyone in the world. 64% of Israelis believe Israel should talk to Hamas, he has what you call common sense, better understanding of world politics, sensitivities involved.

Peace in the Northern Ireland was achieved by talking with IRA.

AND who do you consider strong leaders, BUSH LOL, he's the most unpopular person on the planet, and the dumbest US president Literally!
