Has the Republican Party been hijacked by moronic extremists?

The Republican party I knew and loved used to be the party of small government and individual freedom. Lately it seems that the party has been overcome by social extremists with counter-majoritarian agendas, like anti-g*y, anti-women's reproductive rights, pro-oil, pro-billionaire, pro-war, etc.

Do you agree?

I think you hit the nail right on the head, TQ.  The last two two-term Republican presidents each grew the Federal Government more than any other president before them, and increased the federal deficit to previously unheard of dimensions.

Yet the Republicans still deride so called "tax and spend" Democrats.

The Republican Party lost its moral center long ago, and now seems to have lost its sanity.  I've left the party, and I am not the only one!
