Robert Mugabwe of Zimbabwe is given a platform to speek at the latest meeting of the United Nations. He is starving his nation to death.

The USA owes 1.3 BILLION dollars in dues. Yet it is still allowed to speak.

Should Magabwe be allowed to address the meeting?

And do the Americans have any right to have a say until

they pay their dues?

  1. unfortunately not,as it is incapable of reigning in the 2 worst terrorist rogue states of the planet USA and israel.

  2. The problem with the United Nations, or any international organization, is that it requires world leaders to get along. The UN was created to keep the peace, so there is very little to UN can do to "force" nations to cooperate.

Zimbabwe and the United States should not be able to have a say in light of the facts you mentioned, but the UN can do very little to stop them.

  3. The problem as I see it is the U.S. If they would support the U.N. and stop defying it, then it could be a powerful organization. The reality is that the U.S. is the most powerful nation in the world and they know it. Consider the fact that Isreal is in defiance of 65 U.N. resolutions and there is nothing that can be done due to there continued support by the U.S. It is truly unfortunate that a country that preaches freedom and liberty and moral standards and completely ignores all of those things in favor of greed and power, are the ones in charge. Scars the c**p out of me.

  4. The only teeth the UN has is what the US gives it.

US owed dues because the UN is not following its own rules. They are being starved into compliance. I don't think it's working.

Mugabwe should be able to speak as long as Zim is a member of UN.

US has an unassailable and incontestable right to speak at UN as long as it exists.

  5. UN is not losing his power. Every nation has the right to speak before the UN, no matter how despicable the speaker maybe nor how much they owe the UN in dues. As long as the UN does not support these heartless and inhuman leaders, I'm okay with that.

  6. The UN is merely a discussion forum, for the most part. And that's the way most people want it to be. UN agencies such as UNICEF, UNDP, UNIFEM, etc. can only go into countries where they are invited.

If you want the UN to have more power, or if you want Robert Mugabwe barred from UN activities, start by writing your own country's UN representative and express your feelings.

Also, consider joining your nearest UN Association, to learn more about how the UN works (or doesn't, depending on your feelings):
