I can hardly get any signal on analogue for BBC1,2, STV, C4 and none at all for C5, but I'm still getting a strong signal from my freeview box connected to the same arial. This has been going on since atleast last Thursday.

  1. No to your title question.

This is very weird. It may be that you're very near Black Hill (Glasgow's transmitter site) and the cable between your aerial and TV has snapped at the aerial end. But, being very close to the transmitter, alone, the cable is a good enough antenna for Freeview. The thing is that analogue TV signals degrade gradually but digital signals are all or nothing.

If you can, get an indoor aerial and see if it works for analogue.
