Has the end of apartheid in South Africa been a bad thing ?

When SA had aparthteid the counrty was more succesful.

Now there is chaos, crime, total despair.

In the old days the ' Fuzzy Wuzzys' had a much better life.

Would it be better to go back to these dayd. South africa is now a toilet.

Can any of the participants who negotiated the deal to give the Africans in South Africa total rule,hold their hand on their hearts and declare that South Africa is a  better place for all colours, creeds and religions than it was in the apartheid days.

Interesting Martin H. Your question and the language used is so offensive I looked up your other input to Q/A. It appears you called someone else a dumb SOB for posting a similarly stupid question.

As you seem to be able to spell apartheid (or have remembered to spell check) you are probably not as stupid as you seem. Therefore maybe only a right-wing nutter ... oh sorry, that's the same thing!

I have family there & visited recently. It does seem to have really gone down hill & crime is far more rampant now. However things were still very wrong before. The overiding feeling is that when Nelson Mandela was president things were better as he was for reconciliation & a host of other good & positive things. Mbeke on the other hand is very sympathetic with Mugabe & has allowed strong anti-white sentiment to fester & flourish much more. Under him the infrastructure has deteriorated somewhat. In Durban the bus system was dismantled. In it's place you have a lot of privately run mini vans vying for the business. They operate in competition with each other without proper timetables. This results in a lot of gas -pedal happy drivers dangerously weaving in & out of traffic at dangerous speeds hoping to be the first to pick up the passengers. Consequently there can be violent rivalry between the drivers & accident statistics have shot through the roof. I feel so sorry for the poor passengers who are the ones who suffer. Also there are regular power cuts in Durban because some of the substations were dismantled. Unfortunately this is what happens when the oppressed are set free & are hellbent on throwing the baby out with the bathwater. The balance Mandela wisely tried to maintain is falling dangerously to one side.

The end of apartheid in South Africa was a good thing. Sadly the management of the countries total integration was a very bad thing.

The blacks are no longer "apart", but now the crime and violence is so high that many of them are robbed and murdered.  If they escape that fate they'll likely die of Aids.

The whites are leaving the country as fast as they can.

I guess it all depends on who you talk to if the new ways are better than the old ways.
